What a gift.

This getting older thing.

With each new wrinkle and blemish is a deep knowing.

A new understanding.

A resilience that wasn't there before.

And a purpose I can see more clearly.

I work with teenagers and each year I get older…

Yet they stay the same youthful age.

I can't play the role of the “cool friend” anymore.

Or the hip older sister.

I just hope I can remind them of their humanness.

That self-love and humility will get them everywhere.

And that who they become after every storm they face makes them more resilient and beautiful than they can even imagine.

I hope I can be there for them longer than I think I can.

Because I have so much I still want to say.
