I've had my nails done maybe three times in my life. It never really felt worth it. Most days, I’ve got paint stained into the cracks of every finger. A dead giveaway that I basically live in the art room. My students take pride in how they look, though. Fresh nails, cool outfits. And when I demo projects, I can see it. Some of them hesitate. They don’t want their hands to end up looking like mine. So I stocked the art room with a mountain of vinyl gloves. And just like that, class participation went through the roof.
