Legacy

$150.00

I might be an old soul.

I tend to forge friendships based on curiosity rather than age.

I’m standing on the sacrifices of a million women that came before me.

They built and moved mountains so that I have the privilege to see a little bit farther than they did.

I'm intimidated by the unknown yet one wise woman reminds me that you're never ready for what you have to do.

You just do it. And that’s what makes you ready.

Soft Pastel, 8”x 10”, framed and ready to hang.

VIP Newsletter

I send an email every week to share a little about each piece and the story behind why I make what I make.

I’ll never share your contact information.

Thank you!
Sometimes an idea won’t leave me alone until I paint it.
It’s a little pushy.

Like it doesn’t care that I’m mid-lunch or looking for my phone (which has ended up in the chest freezer more than once).
When I’m deep in it
Sometimes an idea won’t leave me alone until I paint it. It’s a little pushy. Like it doesn’t care that I’m mid-lunch or looking for my phone (which has ended up in the chest freezer more than once). When I’m deep in it, I lose track of time, direction, almost everything. But it usually leads somewhere honest. Even when the spark comes from something sharp—grief, memory, or a moment I haven’t quite figured out yet. It needs to be painted, if only to make sense of it. Thanks for being here in my little corner of the world. For collecting a piece, sharing a kind word, or just following along for the ride. You help these stories find a place to land. 💛 I’ll be in Frederick this weekend with some new work—excited to explore the town and would love to see you there. ✨ Frederick Festival of the Arts 📍 50 Carroll Creek Way, Frederick, MD 🗓️ June 7–8 | 10AM–5PM @artfestivals @frederickartscouncil_official @HowardAlanEvents The Exhibitor List looks AWESOME @ https://www.artfestival.com/frederick-exhibitor-list-june-2025?utm_source=HAE+Current+Artist&utm_campaign=c7a59e30f5-wpb425_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_15839c99c8-c7a59e30f5-379523659 #haeartfest #artlife #artistsoninstagram #watercolorartist #creativeprocess #frederickmd #artshow #slowart #honestart #handpaintedstories #emilyknabbart
I meet so many kind souls at art shows.

We talk about art, life, love, and loss.

And sometimes, I get to witness someone fall in love with a painting.

But one of the most common hesitations I hear is: “I don’t have wall space.”

But one of the most common hesitations I hear is: “I don’t have wall space.” And I get it. I curate my own home carefully, too. I want the colors around me to reflect how I feel—or how I want to feel. But here’s the thing. When I find an outfit I love, I don’t pause to check if there’s closet space. I imagine how I’ll feel in it. Confident, alive, like myself. I make room for it because I've grown…in my life, in my style, in my mindset. Buying art is no different. It’s an investment in who I'm becoming. It’s not just décor. Art is a mirror, a prayer, a promise. So when I hear those quiet doubts… Is it worth it? Is it too much? I remind myself: Maybe I’m just practicing how to grow. To trust there is space for the next version of me. And the art that will help bring her to life. 🌼 LET'S MEET NEXT MONTH...I'LL BRING THE ART 🌼 ✨ Frederick Festival of the Arts 📍 50 Carroll Creek Way, Frederick, MD 🗓️ June 7–8 | 10AM–5PM ✨ PXV Street Art Festival 📍 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA 🗓️ June 14 | 11AM–5PM ✨ Manayunk Arts Festival 📍 Main Street, Philadelphia, PA 🗓️ June 21–22 | 11AM–7PM @artfestivals @manayunkdotcom #wallspace #nextversionofme #watercolormagic #juneartfestivals #showseason #summerlovin ##HAEArtFest #artistsofphoenixville
Summer, I can almost feel you. ☀️
No more hall passes.
No more missing pencils.
Just me, coffee, and a paintbrush. 🎨

After nine months of teenage chaos.
Misplaced masterpieces.
And life advice I probably wasn’t qualified to give...
I'll be
Summer, I can almost feel you. ☀️ No more hall passes. No more missing pencils. Just me, coffee, and a paintbrush. 🎨 After nine months of teenage chaos. Misplaced masterpieces. And life advice I probably wasn’t qualified to give... I'll be officially clocking out of the classroom and checking into summer. I’m swapping lesson plans for studio days. Sun-soaked art shows. And creating at a more human pace again. Starting with 3 shows in June — I’d love to see you out there ☕ ✨ Frederick Festival of the Arts 📍 50 Carroll Creek Way, Frederick, MD 🗓️ June 7–8 | 10AM–5PM ✨ PXV Street Art Festival 📍 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA 🗓️ June 14 | 11AM–5PM ✨ Manayunk Arts Festival 📍 Main Street, Philadelphia, PA 🗓️ June 21–22 | 11AM–7PM Full Show Schedule: https://emilyknabbart.squarespace.com/upcomingevents #ArtFestival #ArtShowSeason #MeetTheArtist #ArtCollectors #ArtOnTheRoad #SummerArtShows #CreativeJourney #ArtistOnTheMove #SlowSummer #StudioToStreet
